New Day Organics: The New Day Organics site highlights products developed by women entrepreneurs. What factors prompted you to go into the natural and organic skin care field and become a business owner?
Libby Claridge/Earth Dance Botanical Body Care: I am not sure I ever planned to become the kind of business owner that I find myself being. I started the company from a single desire to raise my son and remain at home. No other work afforded that kind of flexibility. I started out by making soap a fluke really. I tried my hand at soapmaking and loved it from the start. Things took off from there and we have grown from that single-celled idea to a multi-celled one with all the complexities that involves.
The switch to manufacturing organic skincare was an evolution from the natural personal care products we had been creating for the past 10 years. The progression seemed logical and organic in itself.
