A Message from Arlene Remz, Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Spend just a few minute perusing our new upgraded website and you’ll quickly discover there’s no better time to get involved in Gateways. When you take a look at our ever-expanding menu of educational services for Jewish children with special needs, you’ll understand why more area youngsters than ever before are now able to enjoy a Jewish education designed to meet their unique needs and abilities.
Did you know?
- Gateways has recently begun providing consultation and training to educators in congregational and community supplemental schools and Jewish preschools, in addition to our trademark day school program and Gateways’ innovative Sunday school, bar/bat mitzvah training class and teen youth group. This means, thanks to Gateways, more children than ever before are able to receive a Jewish education whatever their learning style and special needs.
- For the second year running, Gateways was awarded a prestigious grant from the Slingshot Fund, marking us as one of their Top 10 innovative Jewish nonprofits. It’s also the third year we were included in Slingshot, A Resource Guide to Jewish Innovation, an annual listing of the 50 most inspiring and innovative Jewish organizations in North America.
- We’ve expanded our professional development footprint in area day schools through our new GATES (Gateways Access to Training for Educational Success), also launching professional development for congregational and community supplemental schools and Jewish preschools.
- At the Synagogue Council’s Annual Meeting last spring, I was honored on behalf of Gateways for our contributions to children and families across Jewish Boston. One highlight: receiving Gateways’ award from Governor Deval Patrick himself!
Our team of dedicated educators and therapists continues to be at the forefront of the field of Jewish special education, buoyed by our talented and dedicated staff, visionary board, wonderful parents and committed volunteers. But none of this would have been possible without Gateways’ friends and supporters – large and small alike.
Working together, we can swing open the gates to a Jewish education for even more children.
